Post-apocalyptic “Year Zero” Film Features Space Rock Band Black Mountain

Yep, you read that right, Black Mountain is the rock band behind a new surf-post-apocalyptic movie! You must be thinking that the world really is coming to an end if a rock band has been chosen to revive surf culture, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Black Mountain has contributed with 9 lovely songs to the soundtrack of the upcoming movie, five of which are completely new, and the other four have been previously released, but they’re hand-picked to be some of the best. So on second thought, the 45-minute-long new soundtrack is going to be an amazing compilation Black Mountain’s best work so far. The thrilling new soundtrack will be released on April 3rd, 2012 via Jagjaguwar both on vinyl and digital formats, so be sure to mark that date in your calendars so that you remember to go out and get your copy. So, you may be wondering why is a good rock band like Black Mountain trying to resurrect the surf’s up culture? Well you should try to understand that “Year Zero” is not your ordinary surfer-bros flick, it’s a movie about a future time, when the world as we know it has come to an end. Luckily, there were survivors after the planet has been rebooted, and the movie director, Mr Joe G set the remaining people in a paradise-like surrounding. So this is not your average surf movie, but a fresh new start which reminds us how meaningless the material things we value, really are. For such a movie, Black Mountain was the perfect match.
