I’ve searched online in vain for the mournful, haunting, jazzy (foxtrot), opening instrumental music in Endeavour, Series 2, Episode 3 “Sway”. I’ve even left a message on composer Barrington Pheloung’s website, but he did not respond. If anyone knows, please help.

Sorry, it wasn’t the good episode. It was Nabucco, “Va, pensiero” (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, III, 11), Giuseppe Verdi. See https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Enqu%C3%AAtes_de_Morse (in french)
